It tells the story of Saro, a man seeking for greener pasture, but unfolding events and his affair with the king's wife, he encounters his untimely death and with Akala, a mystical bird believed to give and take life.
"After the success of "A Christmas Wife" which premiered on Netflix in 2021, director Kunle Afolayan is back on streaming with "Anikulapo". This time, the filmmaker takes on a fantasy story that follows a man who gets a second chance at life after being murdered. The mystical folkloric drama follows the life of Saro (Kunle Remi) who now has the power of resurrection which earned him the name Anikulapo. The story is quite intriguing, especially for showing the folklore of Nigerian culture, as well as the aesthetics of the film. Kunle Afolayan does a great job directing and the cast also delivers great performances."
