If love is in the form of a circle, what lines would you cross to be with your soulmate? Nick and Janine live in marital bliss, until Janine’s ex-husband warps time to try to tear them apart using Nick’s college girlfriend. As Nick’s memories and reality disappear, he must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in order to hold onto — or let go of — everything he loves. Can love endure in a future where time is fluid, and all of life may be just an illusion?
"With a cast featuring Orlando Bloom (of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'The Lord of the Rings' sagas), Freida Pinto ('Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'), Leslie Odom Jr ('Hamilton') and Cynthia Erivo ('Harriet'), 'Needle in a Timestack' follows a passionate couple who get lost due to the interference of a third element, the protagonist's ex-husband. The screenplay is by John Ridley, of '12 Years a Slave' and responsible for the series 'American Crime', here also acting as director. Thus, a time travel plot is built - which is not mentioned in the story, although it is possible to catch in the air what is happening according to how the movie progresses. That's why the feature film is a bit confusing, but we know that our life will always be shaped according to our choices and, deep down, the narrative ends up making us reflect on this. The pace of the production is slow, but it makes us continue - and there is a surprise at the end, making the wait worthwhile."
