A Lebanese immigrant who has lived in São Paulo for many years is robbed and arrested in the trunk of his own car. In addition, a woman who witnessed the theft is also positioned there. The two complete strangers are forced to share this small, clueless environment where the thieves are headed.
"The beginning of "Dora and Gabriel," a feature film directed by Ugo Giorgetti (of "Uma Noite em Sampa"), is excellent. It shows a man (Ary França) being put in a trunk. A kidnapping. A woman (Natalia Gonsales) who is passing by is also taken hostage. Dora and Gabriel, locked in a trunk. The movie, which takes place almost exclusively in the environment of the trunk, is inventive. Giorgetti holds the whole story from the interaction of these two. Right away, we know little about them. She has nervous asthma, is talkative, worried. He is calmer, is Lebanese, trying to calm this woman who seems to have suddenly entered his critical universe. Right away, the interaction between the two works well. It is excellent to see França ("Durval Discos") on stage, putting truth into this Lebanese character. On the other hand, Gonsales works well in this desperate exaggeration of her character, but it can not be denied that there is a certain lack of naturalness in many moments. Unfortunately, Dora lacked direction in her creation. Which does not prevent the general metaphor of the feature film from reaching the end, when we realize how our reality can be seen in this trunk."
