When an unconfident young woman is cursed with an old body by a spiteful witch, her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a self-indulgent yet insecure young wizard and his companions in his legged, walking castle.
"After the acclaimed animation 'Spirited Away' put Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli under the Western world's gaze, expectations rose for the renowned artist and Japanese studio's following works. Loosely inspired by Diana Wynne Jones' namesake novel, 'Hauru no ugoku shiro' further raised the bar for quality animation from Studio Ghibli, through computer-generated images which were later touched up by animators to give the appearance of hand-drawn animation. Though not as well-received as 'Spirited Away' or 'Princess Mononoke', the feature-length film remains one of Miyazaki's crown jewels, comfortably nestled in his filmography for also tackling the destructive effects of war and the courage and compassion needed to overcome them. Essential viewing for any fan of the director."
