Sleepless

"It is well known that Hollywood executives believe that all that glitters is gold for them, and that any foreign film success can be replicated with an American remake. 'Insomnio' is one of many cases that show this isn't always the case; this remake of the successful French production of the same name (also known by its original title, 'Nuit Blanche') sheds the exalted hand-held camera aesthetic and frantic rhythm of the original, to give us an ordinary neon-lit criminal thriller. The violent and relentless action is however well choreographed and filmed within the parameters accustomed to Hollywood productions, so you won't be disappointed if you're looking for something in the vein of the 'John Wick' saga, or if you prefer your protagonists to have a more questionable morality. In that sense, Jamie Foxx's (‘Django Unchained’) performance is satisfactory, with Michelle Monaghan (‘Between Kisses and Shots’) as a solid counterpoint."
