Mercado Velho de Itajaí - 100 Anos de História e Boa Música is an original production of Café Maestro Produções, directed by Marcelo Cássio Silva. The documentary correlates the 100 years of existence of Itajaí's Old Market with the history of the city, mixed with great music and typical cuisine. Narrated by musician, writer and painter Rafaelo de Góes, the audience remembers the Itajaí from the 20th century and follows its cultural and historical advance throughout the years. Itajaí's Old Market is a meeting point for artists of all kind and breaths music, serving as a stage for emblematic *Rodas de Choro, that are also a part of the history of the city. To exalt the music atmosphere of the Market, the director put a "roda de choro" together especially for the documentary, which was recorded in June of 2018. With the musical direction by Ricardo Pauletti, 14 musicians take turns playing original songs and a few of brazilian's most classical music in a dignifying tribute to the Market's centennial. The gastronomy of the city is also well represented by chef Fátima Vanzuíta, who prepares a delicious meal with fresh products all acquired at the Fish Market. The documentary also shows several interviews with local celebrities, who tells a bit of their relationship with Itajaí's Old Market. *Traditional gathering of musicians who play the instruments in a circle. "Choro" is a typical brazilian music gender.
