Upon realizing the extent to which women are affected by their menses, a man sets out to create a sanitary pad machine and to provide inexpensive sanitary pads to the women of rural India.
"Don't be fooled by the title. This is one of the highest rated Indian films on IMDb and it has accumulated plenty of positive reviews. It tells the true story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, an entrepreneur who invented a machine capable of producing sanitary pads at a fraction of the cost of traditional competitors. Known as "Padman" or "Menstrual Man", Muruganantham faced many difficulties to become a success, being elected by Time as one of the most influential people in the world in 2014. With the typical humor of Indian cinema, the movie takes some poetic license (like changing the protagonist's name), but it is an interesting cultural and entrepreneurial record."
