"I Am Ready, Warden is a short documentary nominated for the 2025 Oscar that talks about an urgent topic: the death penalty. Here, in this original Paramount+ production, we see a boy who is in his final days before the United States' maximum penalty is applied, taking his life. The icing on the cake is that the boy in question is sorry -- he says, in fact, that he is already a different person. Thus, the short film seeks to understand how this actually translates into justice, but without ever poking at the most controversial and sensitive themes in question, almost going off on a tangent. It provokes discussion, yes, but it is afraid to go further. Still, it's a good story with a complex character who deserves attention."
