"For better or worse, Disney continues its live-action remakes, and finally, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs — perhaps the most significant classic in the studio's history — gets its turn. On the surface, the plot is the same: Princess Snow White (played by Rachel Zegler from West Side Story) flees into the forest to escape the evil queen (Gal Gadot), where she is helped by the seven dwarfs. However, this remake introduces several deep—and necessary—updates, which unfortunately get lost in the studio’s devotion to the iconic imagery of its classic. There are very few original ideas here, and what’s present feels forced to justify that fidelity. Zegler brings her full talent to the role, but there is little of interest in the script or character design. While the original Snow White is an outdated animation for newer generations, this remake doesn’t justify its existence as a good movie to begin with. Younger children and the most devoted Disney fans will enjoy it the most."
