"Before I Change My Mind is a Canadian coming-of-age film that revisits many elements—and clichés—of '80s nostalgia, focusing on the teenage desire to fit in. However, there's a significant twist: the kids at school don't know how to classify the protagonist, Robin (Vaughan Murrae): are they a boy or a girl? As often happens, what isn't understood is feared and, therefore, oppressed. Meanwhile, Robin finds refuge with a school bully (Dominic Lippa), and they become friends. But Robin's decisions to fit in become increasingly dangerous, and a troubled girl (Lacey Oake) comes between them, complicating matters. It's a tender, fun film that also offers a fresh exploration of LGBTQIA+ themes."
