Activist Bayard Rustin faces racism and homophobia as he helps change the course of Civil Rights history by orchestrating the 1963 March on Washington.
"When we talk about the civil rights movement during the 1960s in the United States, it's more common to think of figures like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. Directed by George C. Wolfe ('Ma Rainey's Black Bottom'), 'Rustin' is a biopic that celebrates the figure of Bayard Rustin, an activist who challenged authorities, homophobia, and racism to organize the 1963 March on Washington. Paradoxically, it's a history lesson that doesn't delve too deeply into its protagonist, but Colman Domingo's lead performance is so magnetic that you won't be able to look away. The cast is rounded out by names like Chris Rock, Jeffrey Wright, and Audra McDonald."
