From war-torn Syria to the 2016 Rio Olympics, two young sisters embark on a harrowing journey as refugees, putting both their hearts and champion swimming skills to heroic use.
"Even if you haven't heard her name, you surely know the story of Yusra Mardini: the young Syrian swimmer who, before competing in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics with the refugee team, had to leave her country due to war and she, along with her sister, pushed a boat to save the lives of other refugees and reach Greece. 'The Swimmers' tells the story of Yusra and her older sister, Sara, played by two real-life sisters, newcomer Nathalie Issa and Manal Issa. Although it can sometimes be a bit crude, almost to the point of an insensitive miserablism, it generally portrays the Mardini sisters with respect and dignity, so it's a good biopic if you want to get to know their amazing stories."
