Antlers

""Antlers" is a movie where the horror element serves as a vehicle to discuss two distinct themes. The first is trauma, expressed through its main character, the teacher played by Keri Russell ("Planet of the Apes: The Confrontation"), who sees in her student traces of abuse and neglect that remind her of her own dark past. The second theme is local folk mythology - the feature film explores the Wendigo, a supernatural creature of the forests of northern United States and Canada, a wild spirit that originates from explorers lost in the forest who have renounced their own humanity. The narrative prevents the film from exploring the full potential of its themes, but it must be noted the quality of the atmosphere that offers a deep immersion, as well as the special effects, which deliver a terrifying creature and reveal it little by little to maintain suspense around its figure. The performances are also excellent, with a highlight for the young actor Jeremy Thomas. It is a very well constructed and interesting horror movie, although there was room to shine even more."
