Hidden in the interior of Bolivia, an old rent killer has just committed his latest murder. After months in isolation, he travels to the interior of Paraguay where he receives a large reward and thinks about meeting his daughter.
""Aesthetically refined movie, 'King Kong en Asunción' starts to intrigue from its unusual and even funny title. In this case, King Kong is not the classic giant gorilla of the movies. It's actually the story of an elderly hitman who, unlike Nelson Xavier's character in 'Comeback', is completely leaving the profession behind. To compose this character brilliantly played by the late Andrade Júnior, however, director and screenwriter Camilo Cavalcante ('A História da Eternidade') bets on a consciously empty experimentalism: the protagonist goes back and forth in South America, looking for ways to leave his past behind and find a daughter he never had a good relationship with - all this, moreover, with a slow and as contemplative narration as the images put on the screen by Cavalcante, who punctuates the feelings and actions of the character of Andrade. It's a difficult movie to follow, even complicated, since it seems to keep the viewer away all the time, just like its protagonist keeps away from his reality. However, those who like experimentalism in cinema will find here a rare piece of national cinema, which uses and abuses language as a way to make the story come alive, even if moribund.""
