"In 'The Journey' we follow a punk musician in search of his musical origins. Rodrigo González plays in the German band Die Ärzte, but grew up listening to Violeta Parra and Víctor Jara. That's why he traveled to Chile, the country where he was born in search of his musical memories. In this vibrant journey through a territory and its musical tradition, the new Chilean song is the music of protest and soundtrack of an entire nation and generation that took to the streets to protest for their rights and had a great influence on musicians around the world. One of those musicians is Rodrigo González, who emigrated to Germany from Chile in 1974 after the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. Today Rodrigo is the bassist of Germany's most popular punk rock band, Die Ärzte. In the documentary Rodrigo returns to his native land, and perhaps more significantly, to his musical roots. We meet Macha from the Chico Trujillo band, as well as Alonso Núñez, Camila Moreno, Mauricio "Chinoy" Castillo, Eduardo Carrasco, Eduardo Yáñez, Gastón Ávila and many more."
