Kidnapped while attending a religious conference in the Middle East, American journalist Doug Rawlins is a hostage of the Iranian regime on trial for trumped-up charges of espionage. With no help from her State Department connections, Doug's wife Liz decides to take matters into her own hands to find her husband and bring him home.
"'Infidel' is the typical American political thriller, loosely based on real events, but with a dose of questionable plausibility to drive the story. The movie is not very original, full of clichés and little inspiration. The story tries to change the narrative of patriotic heroism, but it fails to effectively escape from it. It's a movie that doesn't work in any deeper social aspect that it tries to work, but serves the entertainment of a capture and escape story, an international conflict without pretensions, for those who don't mind a beaten story, and are interested in watching only for the action and dynamics that the movie delivers."
