An artist is suspected of selling a valuable painting to the Nazis, but there is more to the story than meets the eye.
"Han van Meegeren is still considered one of the greatest art forgers in history. However, unlike stories told in movies like 'Incognito' and 'The Art of Falsification', here we don't see a forger working for his own benefit. On the contrary. Meergen actually used his skill by selling fake Johannes Vermeer paintings to the Nazis. With an interesting performance by Guy Pearce, 'The Last Vermeer' makes the viewer dive headfirst into this man's life and quickly understand his actions as a form of personal contribution against the Nazis in World War II -- in the same vein as 'Schindler's List', but in a milder way. Thus, an indispensable movie for fans of drama, war and strong characters."
