Emma has a perfectly normal family until one day it turns out her dad, Thomas, is transgender. As Thomas becomes Agnete, both father and daughter struggle to hold on to what they had while accepting that everything has changed.
"A Necessary Feature Film for Today's Society telling the story of a father transitioning genders and having more difficulty adjusting than his daughters. 'En helt almindelig familie' is a family drama with a different perspective on this type of story and a good twist. The ending could have been different given what is built up throughout the movie, but it still manages to close the narrative well."
