Why watch this film?
A young Brooklyn couple heads to an upstate cabin to unplug from their phones and reconnect with each other. Blissfully unaware of their surroundings, they are left to their own devices as the planet falls under attack.
"The premise of 'Save Yourself!' is hilarious: a couple needing to do a tech detox decides to spend some time in a cabin away from all society. However, on the first night, strange things start to happen. Shooting stars passing through the sky, gunshots in the forest and other such things. Quickly, however, things get out of control and the couple (very well played by the duo Sunita Mani and John Reynolds) find themselves in the middle of an alien invasion of furry creatures who want to dominate planet Earth. A different look at invasion plots, which escapes the claustrophobia of a 'War of the Worlds' or even the emotional childishness of 'E.T.: The Extraterrestrial'. Although not entirely successful, the direction of Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson shows the vision of this new connected generation, and dependent on cell phones, that does not survive the disconnected world without technology. To laugh, have fun and, in the end, think about our humanity."
