Becoming

"The first feature-length documentary directed by Nadia Hallgren (known for the short film 'After Maria', presented at the Tribeca Festival), 'Becoming' follows Michelle Obama during the promotional tour of her book 'Becoming' and, as such, is partially based on it. It should be noted that this feature is produced by Higher Ground Productions, the Oscar-winning producer of 'American Factory', so it offers a somewhat favorable view of the former First Lady of the United States. It is not a deep or revealing portrait of the protagonist, but her presence makes it a cheerful and inspiring documentary that reminds us of the challenges that women, especially black women, still have to face."
