Why watch this film?
Women's rights attorney Gloria Allred takes on the biggest names in American culture as coverage of sexual assault allegations in the media become more prevalent.
"Presented at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, "Seeing Allred" is a documentary that through the figure of Gloria Allred ties two crucial moments in the history of the feminist movement: the activism for women's liberation in the sixties and seventies in which its protagonist was involved, and the abuse allegations in the 2010s perpetrated by prominent figures like Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein and Donald Trump. Although Allred herself has been controversial and criticized for her litigation style, and the movie paints her perhaps too favorably, it also demonstrates the importance of bringing issues of abuse and gender-based violence to the public eye."
