After a near-fatal plane crash in WWII, Olympian Louis Zamperini spends a harrowing 47 days in a raft with two fellow crewmen before he's caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
"Angelina Jolie steps away from acting to take on directing her third feature film and the result is, for the better. This is a typical story about the triumph of the human spirit against the worst adversities. 'Unbroken' is based on the incredible true story of Louis Zamperini, who besides being an Olympic athlete was a soldier in World War II, where he faced everything from a long shipwreck to torture as a prisoner of war. The script definitely falls into clichés and idealisms, but it remains an inspiring production about resilience."
