The formative years of the orphaned author J.R.R. Tolkien as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school.
"If you're a fan of 'The Lord of the Rings' or 'The Hobbit', there's no doubt that 'Tolkien' is for you. But beware, this is a biopic that takes some poetic liberties - and while it explores some of the most fascinating aspects of the writer's life (like his fascination and talent for languages), it also doesn't have many surprises: we all know how the story ends. The solid performances from the cast led by Nicholas Hoult, as well as some visual parallels with Peter Jackson's films, will make it very enjoyable for the author's fans."
