In early 2000s Turkey, a director explores his crumbling family's secrets through archival footage and personal reflections.
A Film Inspired by Real Events draws a portrait of a seemingly ideal, but in fact disintegrating family in Turkey in the early 2000s. This portrait, which the director creates from archival footage of his family, becomes a personal home movie through concepts such as cultural codes and the nuclear family. The family's religious holiday, a summer vacation, a birthday celebration and scenes from their daily lives are shown. In the part where the mother is drunk, the mother asks her daughter, "Did you understand that he (father) is in love with someone else?" It can be said that this family is actually falling apart. The director present his passion for cinema, which started in his childhood, with the aesthetics of an essay documentary with archive footage created by his family. It is one of the first films in Turkey created with found family footage.
