A father's struggle to provide for his family in 1950s America
Trailer
Why watch this film?
A working-class African-American father tries to raise his family in the 1950s, while coming to terms with the events of his life.
"Based on the play of the same name written by August Wilson (who also wrote the screenplay for the adaptation), 'Fences' is a movie that relies heavily on the performances and interactions of its actors, much like theater. The result is a great work by Denzel Washington and, primarily, Viola Davis (who won an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for her role). From a microcosm, the film tells a story of a time of great transformation of society, particularly among African Americans in the USA and women."
