Why watch this film?
After a devastating breakup, the only place twenty three-year old Jeanne has to stay in Paris is the small flat of her father, Gilles. But when Jeanne arrives, she finds that her father’s new girlfriend has moved in too; Ariane, a young woman her own age. Each is looking for their own kind of love in a city filled with possibilities.
"The auteur cinema we know from the Nouvelle Vague is present in Philippe Garrel's most recent work. Women, as in other of the director's films, have a strong and prominent role, putting men in the background. Despite Esther Garrel's character, daughter of the director and Louis Garrel's sister, being devoted to her ex-boyfriend and fragile due to the end of a relationship, she doesn't lose her protagonist or strong personality. It's a very sensitive production about unlikely relationships and friendships. It's extremely melancholic and may not be the best option for a sad day."
