183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy, a sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm Hammerhand and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.
"The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim marks the official return to J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth as conceived by Peter Jackson’s adaptations, but with a twist: it's in the form of an anime film directed by Kenji Kamiyama. The plot, based on a few paragraphs from Tolkien's books, follows the civil war that led to the decline of the lineage of King Helm "Hammerhand," and the journey of his only daughter, Hèra, to become the leader of her people. Narratively, it's interesting, with a story that takes some liberties with the gaps and ambiguities in Tolkien's canon. However, its animation sometimes feels incomplete, which can distract from the experience. Still, if you're a fan of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings saga, you'll enjoy it a lot."
