Why watch this film?
Florence wants to introduce David, the man she’s madly in love with, to her father Guillaume. But David isn’t attracted to Florence and wants to throw her into the arms of his friend Willy. The four characters meet in a restaurant in the middle of nowhere.
"Directed by the French master of absurdist meta-cinema, Quentin Dupieux (Yannick), The Second Act is a self-aware comedy starring Léa Seydoux, Louis Garrel, and Vincent Lindon. It follows a young woman who wants to introduce her father to the man she is hopelessly in love with, although he doesn’t feel the same and prefers she date his friend instead. The plot takes twists that are best not spoiled here, but true to Dupieux’s style, it is a film that mocks itself and is even aware of its star-studded French cast. The film takes these elements and runs with them, with mixed but never boring results."
