Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way.
"Drive-Away Dolls is Ethan Coen's first film directing credit without his brother alongside. While Joel Coen revives the classic with the impressive The Tragedy of Macbeth, Ethan takes a lighter path with this film following the life of Jamie (Margaret Qualley), who mourns the end of yet another relationship, and her friend Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan), who needs to learn to let go. In the format of a road movie, the feature shows the two embarking on an impromptu trip to Tallahassee, which quickly goes off the rails. Though entertaining, the film falls well below what Ethan has presented as a filmmaker alongside his brother, with classics like The Big Lebowski and No Country for Old Men."
