The filmed account of The Beatles’ attempt to recapture their old group spirit by making a back to basics album, which instead drove them further apart.
"The story of Let it Be as a film is complicated. What started as a television documentary to accompany the broadcast of the legendary rooftop concert was quickly thwarted. Restored for Disney+, for the first time since it stopped circulating in 1980, the film looks better than ever and remains a celebration of the iconic band composed of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. That said, in the shadow of the titanic work done by Peter Jackson and company to restore and reedit the footage filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg for the three-part documentary Get Back, this classic will not offer much new. In the words of Jackson himself: "Let It Be is the climax of Get Back, while Get Back provides a vital missing context for Let It Be."
