Casper, a charming but underprepared time traveller, is trapped in the past. He befriends Holly, a jaded drifter, who helps him exploit his trivial knowledge of the future for a series of quick payouts. When a more competent time traveller tracks them down, Casper and Holly are forced to figure out what they mean to each other and whether the future they’ve threatened is even worth saving.
""You're a very disappointing time traveler" sums up the amusing and brilliant independent science fiction comedy Relax, I'm from the Future. The story revolves around Casper (Rhys Darby, Next Goal Wins), an inept time traveler who returns to the past, supposedly on a mission to prevent a catastrophe that will end the world, a task for which he is clearly ill-prepared. He only has the help of a young woman (Gabrielle Graham, Possessor), whom he entangles in his plans that, in reality, have little to do with the future of humanity, so things start to get complicated. It's an absurdist story with an eccentric sense of humor that relies more on its brilliant performances than on elements like its visual effects. If you're not too demanding with the latter, you'll enjoy it."
