Why watch this film?
In the middle of a performance at la Comédie-Française, an actor dies on stage, poisoned. Martin, member of the troupe and friend of the victim, becomes the center of everyone’s attention. Suspected by the police, he’s also chased by a mysterious organization, Le Parfum vert, that seems to have ordered the murder.
"Criminal mysteries, often labeled as whodunits, typically follow a well-defined formula: there's a murder victim, a culprit whose identity must be uncovered, and an agent (usually a detective, police officer, or spy) tasked with the job. But what if the murder takes place in a theater, and the agents are an actor and an artist infiltrating the case? That's the premise of The Green Perfume, a mystery comedy starring Vincent Lacoste (Lolo) and Sandrine Kiberlain (Diary of a Fleeting Affair) as a duo of actors chosen by the police to uncover the truth. Similar to several recent whodunits (See How They Run, for example), it's a self-aware film that plays with its conventions. Therefore, it might be more enjoyable for those who appreciate this kind of film in the style of Agatha Christie, but it remains highly entertaining and amusing for a general audience."
