Insidious: The Red Door

"Directed and starred in by Patrick Wilson (from The Conjuring), Insidious: The Red Door follows Josh Lambert (Wilson) on his mission to take his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) to his new college dorm room. They don't get along and, like with the viewer, they can't find common ground. Silence reigns and neither of them knows where to begin the conversation. But after leaving the kid in his new place and driving away, Josh starts to realize that life without apparitions is far from just a distant memory. Father and son start having eerie visions that distort reality. Josh is alone, not knowing what path to take, while Dalton only has the help of his new roommate Chris (Sinclair Daniel), who tries to better understand what's going on. From then on, Wilson abuses of sudden jump scares to frighten the audience, with little story. The more demanding viewer won't find much entertainment in this movie, which seems to be destined solely to those who enjoy jumping in fear in the movie theater seat. A horror movie with its highs and lows, just like the whole franchise, but that seems to have a loyal audience and one that doesn't seem to want to retire soon.
