Arigo, an uneducated man, happily married, father of six, is chosen by a mysterious force to rise up as a spiritually and supernaturally gifted surgeon. Miraculously healing thousands of desperate people, he now faces the scorn of the medical profession and his beloved Catholic church.
"José Pedro de Freitas, or simply Zé Arigó, is the name of one of the greatest mediums in the country. Along with Chico Xavier, he brought spiritism to the depths of Brazil and spread the foundation of the spiritual doctrine in the interior of Minas Gerais - which also became a pole of faith in the country. His story, in detail, is told in 'Predestinado, Arigó e o Espírito do Dr. Fritz', a drama that delves into Arigó's life, his faith and his mediumship. Directed by Gustavo Fernandez (from the telenovelas 'Cordel Encantado' and 'Avenue Brazil'), the feature film mainly talks about Arigó's conflicts, his relationship with his wife Arlete (Juliana Paes) and, of course, how he transformed when he embodied Dr. Fritz. The only problem is the lack of greater clarity about spiritual surgeries, especially in times of denial and after what happened with João de Deus, considered one of Arigó's main disciples."
