"Among all the teen comedies that emerged as a side effect of 'Superbad', 'Project X' is undoubtedly the most influential and original. Anyone who lived their adolescence between 2010-15 has certainly been called to a party named Project X, and certainly had a great time with the movie. At first glance, the film may give the impression of an appealing comedy without content, but the truth is that 'Project X' manages to express on screen a raw generalized feeling of youth, about the desire to give in, which is very difficult to channel. Maybe that's why it captivates a generation of young people, being practically the zeitgeist of a generation. All the technical choices are of utmost importance for the feeling, from the choice of found footage, to portray the event by putting the viewer inside, witnessing the events in first person, to the pulsating soundtrack marked by electronic hits, they are what make this movie so unique. It is an extremely performative announced tragedy, a raw mixture of disoriented bodies and a primitive euphoria. As its theme song points out, it is about the 'Search for Happiness'."
