Why watch this film?
Violet realizes that her entire life is built on fear-based decisions, and must do everything differently to become her true self.
"Justine Bateman's first feature-length film, 'Violet', is yet another of those productions that speaks to an essential subject: mental health. However, in this movie, the filmmaker and screenwriter opts for a less conventional aesthetic approach. As we follow the story of a Hollywood producer (Olivia Munn, excellent) who makes decisions out of fear and is always suffering from anxiety, we gradually understand her mind. On the screen, we have images that appear quickly, like triggers. There are also colors, mainly pink, which appears as a moment of tension, of anger, of despair. Finally, there is a voice (Justin Theroux) that suggests to the protagonist how she should retreat, give up, back down. It is a different movie, that takes risks and dares, and knows how to put the viewer at the center of the conversation like few others. Special mention for Munn ('The Newsroom'), in the most challenging role of her career."
