"You don't have to be a particularly observant person to notice that, within any metropolis in the world, there are as many different cities as inhabitants. It's something as obvious as it is inevitable and yet, that seems to be the thesis of 'City', a feature film co-directed by Carlos Rossini ('The Mayor'), Maya Goded ('Plaza de la Soledad'), Julio Hernández Cordón ('Buy Me A Revolver') and Nuria Ibáñez ('The Naked Room'). Perhaps with Vértovian aspirations in concept (though not in execution), 'City' shows, but does not contrast, the realities that coexist in the Mexican capital, which would be more appropriate for a picture book (beautiful, that is) than a movie."
