"After a long period of stagnation, Russian cinema has been producing interesting films throughout the 2010s and 2020s. On one hand, they have made copies of successful blockbuster formulas, focusing on the general public ('The Bride', 'The Guardians', etc). On the other, there is also an inventive independent cinema, with productions such as 'No Love' and 'Leviathan'. 'Lyod' fits perfectly in a middle ground between these two production styles. On one side, there is all the romance of the plot, very similar to what we have seen in American or European films. However, there are still Russian particularities - either in behavior or in society - that do not appear in the Russian blockbuster films. A good entry film into this universe, which still presents a romantic plot that should draw some sighs from the audience."
