In 2014, Geovane, a young man from a poor neighborhood in Brazil, was arrested by the military police and never seen again. His dad would not rest until he found the whereabouts of his son.
"2020 was marked by tragic events. In addition to the coronavirus pandemic, there was also police brutality -- and that is the focus of 'Sem Descanso'. Although the film is from 2019, it resonates with the current world and Brazilian scenario. The production tells a real story, exposing police violence, and addressing how this issue demands an urgent discussion in Brazilian society. Bernard Attal's feature film was awarded and won the following awards: Best Documentary at the Black Montreal International Film Festival; at Fenavid Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Best Feature at Araial Cinefest; Excellence Mention at Impact Doc Awards; and the Vertentes de Cinema Award for Best Documentary at the Rio Festival 2019.
