'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' is also the first Disney animation in a feature-length film, as before the studio had only worked on short films. And the production almost didn't happen. For four years, Walt Disney tried to finish the project and had to mortgage his house so it could come to fruition—literally. The film had a cost of more than one million dollars, considered a fortune at the time. We wouldn't have animations if it weren't for Disney's effort to produce 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. The feature is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'Snow White' and was highly praised when it was finally released."
