Documentary follows a brazilian political campaign, in 2018, of six candidates for the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal Chamber, with the defense of human rights, education, feminism and Afro-descendant affirmation as a platform.
"The number of women present in the National Congress is very low. In the 2018 election, closest to the release of this documentary, they represented only 15% of the federal deputies and senators. But despite the still discouraging scenario, the "seed" planted by Marielle Franco began to change the configuration of the fight a little more. More women, many of them declared black, began to fight even more for space in public power. And this is what the documentary 'Seeds: Black Women in Power', by Júlia Mariano and Éthel Oliveira, seeks to portray. Here, the directing duo dives into the history of candidates from the 2018 election, understand their difficulties and also their inspirations. In the end, more than a good portrait of these women's struggle for power, historically usurped by white men, there is also a new seed planted. Who knows, in the future, other women will be inspired by those portrayed and thus seek to occupy their rightful place in command of the country."
