A Buddhist scientist from Bangkok decides to cryo-preserve his daughter's brain. As scandal swirls around the family, they struggle to grieve a child that, in their view, is suspended between death and a future reawakening.
"Hard and sad, but necessary, 'Hope Frozen: A Quest to Live Twice' tells the story of a Thai couple who decide to freeze their deceased 2-year-old daughter in the hope of reviving her in the future. From this intimate and painful journey, filmmaker Pailin Wedel dives into the paths of science - and also popular beliefs and fake news - that end up interfering with the natural process of death. But above all, it brings an important question for a time when science begins to advance on the natural paths of life: should we, in some way, prevent death? The director's first feature was awarded at Hot Docs, Canada's international documentary festival."
