A Family Affair is a Netflix comedy with a clear goal: to make the audience laugh at situational humor, often steeped in absurdity. The story stars Zara Ford (Joey King), a dedicated young woman who works as a personal assistant to movie star Chris Cole (Zac Efron). Zara's life turns upside down when her mother, Brooke Harwood (Nicole Kidman), starts dating Chris, creating a highly unusual and embarrassing situation. A film with an unlikely and fun cast (even though Efron and Kidman have already played a couple in The Paperboy) with the also unusual direction of Richard LaGravenese, known for films like P.S. I Love You and the teen romance Beautiful Creatures.

Thus, director Richard LaGravenese (of the teenage fantasy 'Sixteen Moons') gets close to reality by showing the social and economic differences of a fragmented country, both inside and outside the school. A well-made drama, ideal for those who like those productions that ride the Oscar wave with emotional and inspiring stories.
