Sadako
A new Japanese version of 'The Ring' made by the director of the original movie, Hideo Nakata. The production updates the long that made Sadako -- the original name of Samara -- terrorize a generation. 'Sadako' brings the already known story to modern days. Now, we no longer have cassette tapes but Youtube, which can make a curse spread much more easily. Since we already know the plot, the terror doesn't surprise as much, but if you are a fan of the franchise you will certainly enjoy this new movie.

The Ring
Adapted from Kōji Suzuki's Japanese novel, 'Ringu' is one of the most well-known entries among Japanese horror films - which would later inspire the American version directed by Gore Verbinski. This psychological horror film blends a powerful, chilling atmosphere with concerns about late 20th century technology. It's a modest but powerful production that spawned numerous other features.

Exhuma
Every now and then, a work of horror emerges from South Korean cinema that, beyond the common elements of entertainment and frights, stands out as a disturbing piece of art due to its rich folklore mixed with a story where reason and faith are futile against the darkness, let alone explain it. This can be said of The Wailing and now also of Exhuma' a film where paranormal experts are hired to trace the origin of a supernatural evil to an ancestral tomb, and end up tampering with a force that should not have been disturbed. It's a film that doesn't resort to cheap jump scares, but rather builds something more interesting: an atmosphere of constant dread and despair.
