Why watch this film?
Incredibly, 'Astro Boy' is not your typical superhero animation, it's much more than that. The story is emotional - and sad in some points - and uses a robot to talk about the more human side of people, which is the search for acceptance. The metaphor is good, even more so because it is a children's movie, which is also a good recommendation for adults. In technical terms, 'Astro Boy' is impeccable and keeps alive the traces of the manga, from which the plot was adapted. The character emerged in the 1950s and brought discussions far ahead of its time, even more so when we analyze that it is a futuristic universe.

Flushed Away
Hardly remembered Dreamworks animation, but it guarantees fun from start to finish. In the story, we follow a bon-vivant rat from London who, due to an awkward flush and given at the wrong time, ends up in the never before explored sewers of the city. From there, he has to survive in this new reality. With a stop motion visual, in the style of 'Chicken Run', the feature film plays with these social class differences. The highlight are the sewer slugs, the comedic soul of the movie, who sing 'Gonna Make You Sweat' and 'Pump It' in some of the key moments of the film.

Mufasa: The Lion King
Rafiki relays the legend of Mufasa to lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion a journey of misfits searching for their destiny and working together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

Thelma the Unicorn
A fun and tender animation directed by Jared and Jerusha Hess, creators of cult classics like Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre. In fact, Thelma the Unicorn shares similarities with these films: its plot follows the titular pony, who dreams of being a singer but is underestimated due to her size and appearance, despite her talent. Her life changes when, due to an accident with paint, glitter, and a carrot, she adopts the appearance of a unicorn and becomes a sensation. It’s a simple, uncomplicated story that, through the usual expectations of the entertainment industry (appearances over talent), conveys a message of acceptance and self-esteem.
