In the Land of Blood and Honey is a film directed and written by Angelina Jolie that tackles a delicate subject: the violent Bosnian War. In the story, during the conflict, Bosnian Ajla is taken along with other women to a Serbian barracks to serve the soldiers. A commander recognizes Ajla, whom he met at a nightclub and courted, and begins to secretly protect her. They rekindle their love, but can they trust each other? This question drives the film's narrative, exploring themes of love and mistrust in equal measure, leading to an inevitably tragic fate.

Plot summary
Set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War in the '90s, this provocative new film follows a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who fall in love on the brink of the terrible armed conflict that tears their world apart. Although separated by the war along ethnic lines, they are fatefully reunited when she becomes a prisoner in a camp he oversees. Despite the most challenging circumstances imaginable, their relationship continues to evolve. But can their bond survive the horrific war aswell as the dangerous cat-and-mouse games they themselves initiate?
