Why watch this film?
After the terror of A Quiet Place, John Krasinski leaps into a new genre as director with IF. The story follows a young girl (The Walking Dead's Cailey Fleming) who, while still dealing with her mother's death, must face her dad's (Krasinski) risky heart surgery. At her grandmother's house (Fiona Shaw), she discovers a group of strange imaginary creatures that need her help, as only she and a mysterious man (Ryan Reynolds) can see them, and together they embark on a mission to return them to the children who imagined them. It's a tender fantasy that seems to be for the whole family, but sometimes gets so tangled in its internal logic that it seems aimed at a more adult audience. However, behind everything, its message about connecting with imagination and never losing the capacity for wonder we have as children, manages to come through. At the very least, we appreciate that it is much more imaginative than anything the big film franchises have to offer today.

One of the most critically acclaimed films of 2018, A Quiet Place is the second directorial feature of actor John Krasinski's (best known for the American version of The Office), which also stars his wife Emily Blunt. The movie, undoubtedly, strays away from the formula already known for horror stories: there are no obvious scares and the suspense permeates the story throughout the 90 minutes. Krasinski drank from the source that inspired the great master Alfred Hitchcock –and the influence is quite perceptible. If you were looking for a good suspense movie, you've come to the right place!
A Quiet Place Part II
After the surprising success of the first A Quiet Place movie, filmmaker and actor John Krasinski (known for his character in The Office) returns to the apocalyptic universe he created. In A Quiet Place Part II we follow the immediate aftermath of what we saw in the first chapter - although Krasinski digs up a space, right at the beginning of the movie, to participate in a breathtaking scene at the start of the sound-seeking alien invasion. Unfortunately, there is not the same strength and originality that we saw before. After all, the filmmaker does not find ways to surprise us as he did when presenting this devastated world, in silence. It can even be questioned if a continuation was really necessary. However, A Quiet Place Part II has its merits. It's honest and unpretentious entertainment, serving as good escapim. Time passes quickly as we watch and the movie reserves some good scares. The children are as annoying as ever and Emily Blunt is more contained than in the first movie. But in the end, the fun is guaranteed with this journey of this family trying to survive and escape from the creatures –and now, with Cillian Murphy also complementing the cast, with an interesting character.
